Event DetailsStrathbogie Shire Council is committed to ensuring that waste is minimised and effectively managed at Council events, as well as at events that are held on land owned or managed by Council. All public events and functions held on Council owned or managed property must adhere to Council’s Waste Wise Events Policy.

For all events where this policy applies, the following requirements must be met:

5.1 Waste Management
? The number, size and locations of waste, recycling and organics bins must be sufficient for the expected number of event attendees
? Recycling and organics bins must be paired with rubbish bins are be clearly identifiable
? A waste management plan must be provided for all major events

5.2 Cleanliness of Site
? The event site must be left free of litter at the completion of the event

5.3 Prohibited Items
The use and distribution of the following items is not permitted
? Balloons at outdoor events
? Plastic shopping bags (including lightweight and heavyweight)
? Polystyrene food or beverage packing
? Plastic straws
? Plastic water bottles
? Plastic cling wrap

We have created a Waste Wise Event Guide to help all event organises easily create a Waste Wise plan for the event, working with event partners, stall holders, caterers and contractors to minimised and effectively managed waste.

Council will supply and empty up to six (6) 240 litre bins (two bins per type), free of charge for special events, in accordance with the waste services contract, provided an undertaking is made and acted upon by the event organiser to initiate, promote, and action appropriate disposal procedures for recyclables and organic waste please see the Waste Wise guide for more details.

Organiser Details

Services Required Request for supply and emptying of bins for special events should be completed a minimum of four weeks prior to the event.

You can expect a minimum of one litre of waste per person per meal. For example:
• 300 people x 2 meal times = 600 litres of estimated waste
• Divide 600 by 240 litres = 2.5 wheelie bins
• More, or less bins may be required depending on venue shape, access, waste type and use
